Brushless DC Motor for Lawn Mowers and Robotic
Greensky Power is an OEM manufacturer of brushless DC motors for robotic, commercial and specialised mowers. Six catalogued models across 36, 42 and 57 mm frames — from 9 W geared wheel drives to 90 W direct-drive blade motors — and every model has a downloadable manufacturing datasheet.
Two roles, one platform
A mower needs two very different motors. Sorting by frame size is the wrong first step — sort by what the motor has to turn.
Drive wheel motors
- 34–65 rpm at the output, 2.5–5.4 N·m
- Planetary reduction 71:1 or 68:1
- 9–32 W, 18 V or 24 V
Pick this one if the motor turns a wheel.
Blade motors
- 3,520–4,500 rpm at the shaft, 0.15–0.19 N·m
- No gearbox — the blade mounts on the shaft
- 56–90 W, 18 V, 21 V or 24 V
Pick this one if the motor turns the blade.
The 42 mm wheel motor produces 5.4 N·m; the 57 mm blade motor produces 0.19 N·m — 1/28 of the torque at nearly 80× the speed. A bigger frame does not mean a stronger motor.

Two geared wheel motors at 71:1
9 W at 34.3 rpm and 17 W at 64.3 rpm, both 2.5 N·m — the compact end of the wheel-drive range.

One geared wheel motor at 68:1
32 W, 5.4 N·m at 56.7 rpm — the highest torque in the range, for heavier chassis and ramps.

Three direct-drive blade motors
56–90 W at 3,520–4,500 rpm. Mixed 8-pole and 10-pole versions in one family, selected by the controller.
Model comparison — all six catalogued motors
Rated points measured under the dedicated controller. Wheel motors are gearbox output values (71:1 or 68:1); blade motors are direct-drive shaft values with no gearbox.

FAQs: selecting the right lawn mower motor
Can I download the datasheet without contacting sales?
Yes. All six catalogued models have a released datasheet linked from the download section above — no form and no email required. Each file is the current revision and includes the outline drawing, wire sequence and measured output curve.
Drive wheel motor or blade motor — which one do I need?
Follow the output, not the frame size. A drive wheel needs 30–70 rpm and 2.5–5.4 N·m, which means a geared motor (36 or 42 mm). A blade needs 3,500–4,500 rpm at low torque, which means a direct-drive 57 mm motor. The 57 mm blade motor has about 1/28 the torque of the 42 mm wheel motor.
How do I choose between 24V, 36V, and 48V motors for my mower design?
The voltage selection primarily depends on your power requirements and battery configuration. 24V systems are common for smaller residential robots. 36V offers a good balance of power and efficiency for most mid-range residential and commercial mowers. 48V motors suit heavy-duty commercial applications, providing higher torque and efficiency and allowing thinner gauge wiring. Our engineers can help you model the optimal system based on your cutting width, grass type and desired run time.
What is the typical lead time for custom OEM motor orders?
For standard customisations (different shaft lengths, connectors, mounting brackets), lead time is typically 4–6 weeks after final design approval. For completely new designs requiring full R&D, the timeline is project-dependent but usually 12–16 weeks to prototype. We maintain transparent communication throughout the process.
Can you provide the motor with a matched controller and software?
Yes, we are a full-solution provider. We can supply matched high-efficiency brushless motor controllers (ESC) and basic firmware. For advanced robotic mowers, we offer development support for integrating with your navigation and sensor systems (CAN bus, UART and PWM interfaces available).
What quality certifications do your motors hold?
Our production facility is ISO 9001:2015 certified. Our motors are designed to meet CE, RoHS and REACH standards. Specific certifications such as UL or TUV can be pursued for projects requiring them.
Do you offer waterproof (IP67) motors for all-weather mowers?
Yes. We specialise in high-ingress-protection motors. Our IP67-rated motors are fully sealed against dust and withstand temporary immersion in water, which suits mowers operating in dew, rain or after irrigation.
Tell us the duty point, not the wattage
Wheel or blade, output speed, torque, voltage and annual volume — that is enough to say whether a catalogued model fits or a new one is needed. Our engineers reply within 24 hours.
