What are DC Brushed Motors?
A brush motor is a type of DC motor characterized by a fixed main pole and brushes situated on the stator, along with an armature winding and commutator on the rotor. The flow of electrical energy from the DC power supply enters the armature winding through the brushes and commutator, resulting in the generation of armature current. The magnetic field produced by this armature current interacts with the main magnetic field, generating electromagnetic torque. This torque, in turn, propels the motor into rotation, driving the attached load.
The brush motor’s mechanism is known for its simplicity, ease of production and processing, straightforward maintenance, and convenient control. Additionally, DC motors, including brush motors, exhibit rapid response times and boast significant starting torque. They can seamlessly transition from zero speed to rated speed, providing rated torque performance.
