Customer Background
Why a brake became mandatory for an access-systems integrator.
Our customer integrates automatic door systems for Vietnam’s fast-urbanizing commercial buildings, factories and public facilities, where demand for modern, reliable access is strong. In high-traffic environments, user safety is the top priority and doors must hold position reliably under frequent operation. Drives for gates and doors are covered specifically by IEC 60335-2-103, and pedestrian doorsets in Europe by EN 16005.
The customer needed a compact, efficient drive that moved doors smoothly and quietly, but also one that could immediately arrest motion on power failure or emergency stop. Brushless gear-motor technology with an integrated brake met both the performance and the safety requirement. In North America the equivalent operator requirements sit in UL 325.

The Challenges They Faced
Three issues shaped the specification.
ASafety on power loss
- Doors had to hold position instantly on power failure or emergency stop.
- Uncontrolled motion in high-traffic areas risked user injury. Where the brake forms part of a safety function, the integrity required is set by ISO 13849-1 performance levels.
- Safety compliance required positive holding without continuous power.
BClimate & duty
- Vietnam’s humid climate accelerated corrosion and wear in open drives.
- Continuous daily use demanded low maintenance.
- Smooth, quiet motion was required in offices and hospitals.
Products & Solution Adopted
Greensky supplied a brushless gear motor with an integrated brake for door automation.
BLDC Gear Motor
Brushless drive with integrated gearbox for smooth, quiet low-speed door motion.
Electromagnetic Brake
Holds the door instantly on power loss or emergency stop — no continuous power needed.
Flexible Mount Kit
Multiple mounting options for new installs and upgrades across door sizes.
The integrated gearbox delivers the torque needed at low speed for precise control regardless of door size or weight, while the brake engages immediately on power failure or emergency stop to prevent uncontrolled motion — critical in high-traffic areas. Brushless construction reduces maintenance, and sealed design withstands Vietnam’s humid climate and continuous daily use. Compact, flexible mounting eases integration into both new and upgraded door configurations. Rating and duty classification — relevant to a door that cycles hundreds of times a day — follow IEC 60034-1.
How We Implemented It
A phased rollout from safety spec to field-proven supply.
Specification workshop
Defined door torque, speed, hold-force and humidity ratings for target sites.
Brake validation
Power-loss and emergency-stop hold tests confirmed instant, fail-safe engagement.
Humidity field trial
Units ran in live commercial and public facilities through a humid-season cycle.
Sealing & release
Sealed construction verified; motor+brake released for production tooling.
Mass production & JIT
Volume supply synced to the customer’s project installation schedule.
Results Achieved
Measured against the customer’s pre-upgrade non-braked baseline.
Figures refer to the door-operator configuration and duty cycle agreed for this project, measured during pre-production validation against the client’s prior non-braked drive. Client and test records are available to qualified buyers on request under NDA.
The fail-safe brake gave the customer confident compliance with safety expectations, holding doors instantly on power loss. Sealed, brushless construction extended service intervals through Vietnam’s humid climate, lowering operating cost across continuous daily use.
What The Customer Says
The brake was the feature our clients asked for — the door holds the moment power drops. Combined with the quiet brushless drive and sealed build, it’s exactly what our humid-climate sites needed.
