1. Industrial Automation

  • Transportørsystemer: In factories, conveyor belts are used to transport materials from one place to another. Motor controllers are used to manage the speed and direction of the motors that drive these conveyor belts. They can adjust the conveyor’s speed according to the production requirements, such as speeding up the process during peak times or slowing it down for quality control. The ability to precisely control the motors also ensures that the materials are moved smoothly and without jolts.
  • Machine Tools: Motor controllers play a crucial role in machinetools like lathes, milling machines, and drill presses. They control the spindle motors and feeddrive motors. By adjusting the motor speed and torque, different machining operations such as cutting, drilling, and milling can be carried out with precision. For eksempel, when cutting a hard material like titanium, the motor controller can increase the torque to ensure a smooth cut while maintaining an appropriate cutting speed.

2. Automotive applikationer

  • Electric Vehicles (EV'er): In EVs, motor controllers are essential components. They regulate the power flow to the electric motors that drive the wheels. The controller can adjust the speed and torque of the motor according to the driver’s input (accelerator pedal position) and the vehicle’s operating conditions such as speed, battery charge level, and road conditions. It also enables regenerative braking, where the motor acts as a generator during braking to recharge the vehicle’s battery.
  • Automotive Accessories: Motor controllers are used for various automotive accessories such as power windows, power seats, and windshield wipers. For power windows, the controller manages the speed and direction of the windowlifting motor, allowing for smooth and controlled operation. In the case of windshield wipers, it can adjust the wiper speed according to the intensity of rain or the driver’s preference.

3. Robotik

  • Industrial Robots: Motor controllers are used to control the movements of industrial robots. Each joint of a robot is usually driven by an electric motor, and the motor controller is responsible for precisely controlling the speed, position, and torque of these motors. This enables the robot to perform complex tasks such as welding, maleri, and assembly with high accuracy. For eksempel, in a robotic welding application, the motor controller ensures that the welding torch is moved at the correct speed and position to create a highquality weld.
  • Service Robots: In service robots like vacuumcleaning robots and delivery robots, motor controllers manage the motors that drive the wheels or other moving parts. They help the robots to move around smoothly in different environments and perform their tasks effectively. For a vacuumcleaning robot, the motor controller can adjust the speed of the cleaning brushes and the driving motors to optimize the cleaning performance.

4. Renewable Energy Systems

  • Wind Turbines: Motor controllers are used in the pitchcontrol system of wind turbines. The pitch of the turbine blades needs to be adjusted according to the wind speed and direction to optimize the power generation and protect the turbine from damage. The motor controller manages the motors that change the blade pitch, ensuring that the blades are in the correct position at all times.
  • SolarTracking Systems: Some solartracking systems use motors to adjust the angle of solar panels to follow the sun’s path throughout the day. Motor controllers are used to precisely control these motors, maximizing the amount of sunlight that the panels receive and thus increasing the energyharvesting efficiency.
