Tobacco Grading System Industry Overview
For tobacco commercial enterprises, a reasonable cigarette sorting system means smooth and coordinated logistics flow, stable and reliable sorting efficiency, and accurate and efficient sorting quality, fully responding to the requirements of “national interests first and consumer interests first” advocated by the National Tobacco Monopoly Administration.
Since 2000, cigarette sorting systems have been gradually put into use by tobacco companies in various regions. Introduction to Tobacco Sorting System
The cigarette sorting system of the tobacco company’s distribution center mainly includes three main parts: cigarette tray storage, pre sorting stocking cache, and cigarette sorting.
Taking a tobacco company in Northeast China as an example, the process of tobacco sorting will be introduced below
1. Cigarette tray storage
The tobacco distribution center storage is mainly divided into two types: shelf storage and vertical storage, and different forms are selected according to the annual sales volume in different regions.
2. Stock cache
At the distribution center, the second floor is the storage location, and the cigarettes are manually transported onto the conveyor belt and transported to the first floor overpass conveyor belt by a vertical conveyor mechanism.
3. Unboxing
The cigarette is transported from the overpass to the automatic unboxing machine by an elevator. After unboxing, the cylinder pushes the cigarette onto the tray on the conveyor belt, and the cardboard box is automatically flattened and stacked.
4. Tobacco Sorting
Tobacco sorting equipment is divided into three types: whole five sorting machines, vertical sorting machines, and horizontal sorting machines. The five sorting machines are suitable for sorting various varieties and quantities, while the horizontal sorting machine is suitable for sorting multiple varieties and small batches. The vertical sorting machine is similar to the horizontal sorting machine, but the difference is that the vertical sorting machine requires manual smoking.
Each channel of the sorting equipment has a sensor, and according to the type of cigarettes and order requirements, the cylinder transmission mechanism of this channel pushes the cigarettes into the sorting equipment.
The sorting equipment uses servo control at the outlet to deliver cigarettes one by one to the conveyor belt based on the order quantity.

At this distribution center, two workstations are switched between the sorting equipment channel exit and the conveyor line using servo motor control.
1. Exit positions of various channels on the sorting line
The servo motor drives the chain to run through synchronous pulleys, with a ratio of approximately 1:2.5 between the two wheels. Using internal speed control, the sensor receives a signal of cigarette arrival, and the servo starts as needed. The cigarette is sent out through the stopper on the chain.
2. Switching between lower layers on the conveyor line
Considering sorting efficiency, the channel outlet of the sorting equipment is designed with a high and low cross, which can be transported to the upper and lower conveyor lines respectively. At the position of the laser coding machine, the two conveyor lines converge to one layer, and after the coding is completed, they are transported to the upper and lower layers separately.
The servo motor drives the left platform to move up and down through a connecting rod, and the cigarette is sent to the upper and lower conveyor lines on the right side as required. The driver adopts internal speed control, and two photoelectric switches are installed at the crankshaft corresponding to the upper and lower positions. When reaching this position, the servo stops, requiring fast servo response, accurate positioning, and low noise.
Summary
The requirements for servo motors in tobacco sorting equipment are not complicated, but there are a large number of servo motors on site that operate 24 hours a day.
